Labor day was originally established to free people from labor, but I think it often results in more work than my day job! Our first project this weekend was painting the playhouse I've been building for the kids in the back yard. I've designed it to be subtly Asian in style to go along with the overall plan for the yard. Now I just need to add hardware to the doors and windows.
The outside work was interrupted on Saturday by a strange darkness in the sky followed by water falling in small droplets. (Em recalls that "rain" is common in other parts of the world.) Little G was so excited that he kept shouting "Wada Mama! Wada!" It has been a very dry summer. Em took the break as a sign that we should paint the boys' room. She spent Saturday doing the whole room in a warm and neutral tan and I spent Saturday being domestic. Then on Monday, I put graffiti on the walls to make our home unsellable. Middle G loved it enough that he declared it perfect. I'd reserve that for the work of a real artist, but was pleased anyway.

Finally, Em spent some time last week with the younger two at a kids museum where they tried out a race car and other imaginative games. They also spent time enjoying the cooler weather in the back yard, where middle G likes to ride his bike. The twins also were in on most of the fun this weekend, so we apologize for no pictures of them.
